Tick Removal Tip!
Ticks like birds like shrubs! Ticks remain close to the ground in order to jump on people or
animals that pass by. If you are birding in the woods, wear long sleeves and long pants, and
tuck your pants into your socks. Wearing an insect repellent also helps. I use one that's 10%
to 30% DEET.
Tick Removal:
A nurse discovered this safe, easy way to remove ticks - they will automatically withdraw themselves when you
follow these simple instructions. "I had a Pediatrician tell me she believes is the best way to remove a tick."
Apply a glob of liquid soap to a cotton ball. Cover the tick with the soap-soaked cotton ball and swab it for a
15 - 20 seconds; the tick will release on its own and be adhered to the cotton ball when you lift it away.
Good birding,
